February Week 2: Kids BJJ and INTEGRITY

Gracie Humaitá Jiu-Jitsu – Mississauga

"It’s not what we digest that makes us strong; not what we gain but what we save that makes us rich; not what we read but what we remember that makes us learned; and not what we profess but what we practice that gives us integrity." – Francis Bacon, Sr

At Gracie Humaitá Jiu-Jitsu Mississauga, we teach that integrity is at the core of martial arts. In our kids’ Jiu-Jitsu classes in Mississauga, students learn that success isn’t just about skill—it’s about building strong moral character and making the right choices.

Integrity in Jiu-Jitsu means being honest about your progress. Some techniques take weeks or months to master, and students must be truthful with themselves about where they need to improve. In our Mississauga kids' Jiu-Jitsu program, we encourage students to set realistic goals, listen to their instructors, and put in the necessary effort to grow.

Integrity also plays a role in competition. Winning with honor and losing with grace shows true character. A student who taps out when necessary, follows the rules, and respects their opponents is demonstrating the true spirit of Jiu-Jitsu.

Ask your child:

  1. Why is integrity just as important as skill in Jiu-Jitsu?
  2. How can you be honest with yourself about your training progress?
  3. Why is respecting your teammates and opponents part of showing integrity?

At Gracie Humaitá Jiu-Jitsu Mississauga, we build strong, disciplined, and respectful martial artists. If you want your child to learn Jiu-Jitsu while developing integrity, confidence, and resilience, enroll them in our kids' Jiu-Jitsu classes in Mississauga today!
