January Week 4: GOAL SETTING
“All who have accomplished great things have had a great aim, have fixed their gaze on a goal which was high, one which sometimes seemed impossible.”
– Orison Swett Marden
At Gracie Humaitá Jiu-Jitsu Mississauga, we’re exploring how goal setting is a crucial part of mastering techniques and achieving success on the mats and in life. This week, we’re focusing on the triangle choke—a fundamental submission that requires practice and dedication.
Every goal begins with a solid foundation. For the triangle choke, this means controlling your opponent’s posture, adjusting your hips, and locking in the submission correctly. Each step builds your confidence and technique. Practice is the next phase. Repetition trains your muscle memory and gives you the ability to execute under pressure.
Visualization is a powerful tool. See yourself performing the triangle choke smoothly and confidently. Stay focused on the process, blocking out distractions. Finally, speed and decisiveness are critical. Whether it’s locking in a submission or achieving a life goal, success requires bold action.
Ask yourself:
Every roll is a chance to grow, improve, and strive toward our highest potential. Let’s work together to make this year one of focus, success, and growth.
